Ever wondered seeing a file with blank name in your bud's computer, but he didn't tell you the trick? Don't worry; we're here with a brand new trick to easily give a file an empty name. All you need to do is follow the simple steps bellow and get you work done in minutes.
- First of all pick a simple file or create one (if you are a newbie, see the image bellow to create a text file).
- Now it's time to rename the file. Just Right Click on File > Rename
- Now comes the twist. Clear the full name (i.e. New Text Document or whatever your file's name is). Now press and hold the "alt" key and while holding, type 0, 1, 6 and 0 (without commas). And then release the "alt" key (and the 0, 1, 6, 0 too!). Then press Enter. You are done. Easy isn't it?
- After you are successfully done, your file will look like-
Analysis & Tips: Wondering how did this happen? There's nothing strange in this. The fact is, the file contains only 'one space', that the computer recognizes as a character. And the keystroke of that character is "alt+0160". Like this, the keystroke for the "©" sign is "alt+0169". But if you try to enter a space by pressing the "space" button, it won't work! So now you know the reason behind this 'magic'. Go prank your friends. But before that remember some tips:
- If the extension is viewable, then replace it with the same keystroke "alt+0160".
- You can do the same with any folders too.
- By this process you can hide a full folder. To do that, first assign a blank name to it. Then Right Click on the Folder > Properties > Customize > Change Icon > Set a blank icon to it.
- Same rule applies to make a file disappear too.
